In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-3832 dated 03.07.2019 "On measures for development of the digital economy in the Republic of Uzbekistan", as well as through the creation of conditions for introduction and development of the digital economy by the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as Agency) together with the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as Minvodkhoz) measures for creation of conditions for introduction and development of the digital economy in the country’s irrigation sector are being implemented.
In connection with this, on November 29, 2019, representatives of the "AIST" Company of "SKOLKOVO" (Russia), gave a demonstration of customized intelligent system of water supply and mineral fertilizers (hereinafter referred to as System) within the land plot allocated for this purpose in Parkent district of Tashkent region. The demonstration, organized by the Agency together with the Minvodkhoz, was attended by the specialists of various stakeholders and departments.
During the demonstration the hardware and software complex based on wireless communication with an intelligent irrigation system was presented by developers. The system provides irrigation and supply of mineral fertilizers to both trees and vegetables, as well as provides targeted and point feeding of water and mineral fertilizers to each plant in the required volume and at the right time. It adapts to a specific field, taking into account local soil and climatic conditions and type of plant, creates the database on the volume of water supplied, time of operation, temperature and humidity, maintains a predetermined value of humidity in the root layer. The ability to operate in a fully autonomous mode allows the system to maintain working condition throughout the irrigation season.
Through this process, the digital watering map is being formed as well as artificial intelligence system, which in its turn allows to make an independent decision on watering or fertilizing.
The customized intelligent system implements LPWan technology and Internet of things and is operated via WI-FI, GSM communication channels using any kind of devices (tablet, smartphone and laptop), as well as desktop computers through the dispatcher system. Modules and sensors forming a part of the system are provided with an autonomous power supply and built-in software to be operated by the central unit via a radio communication channel within a working range of up to 3 km.
Due to the lack of sufficient water resources in Uzbekistan, the agriculture is affected by the water scarcity during every irrigation season. The system demonstration proved its unique design, potential for use, mobility, efficiency in saving water when watering in conditions of insufficient water resources in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The key advantages of the technology consist in reducing the volume of water supply for irrigation purposes, reducing soil salinity due to soil humidity control and preventing the formation of puddles, fast installation on any irrigation systems, and continuous communication with the plant and soil, which is the most important factor.
Wide application of the system will save the amount of water consumed up to 80%, electricity - by 15-30%, preventing from salinization, acidification and waterlogging of the field.
